How to Choose The Right Daycare for Your Child Post Covid?
12 April 2021Choosing the right daycare centre for your child is a very important and rigorous decision to make, especially post the covid crisis. A daycare is not only a place where a child can pass some time when you are away, but it can be central to the overall development of the child- from academics to ethics and values.
So how do you choose the perfect daycare for your beloved tiny tot? To make your job easier we have made an all encompassing list where we have put together all the things you need to look for in a daycare to find your perfect match!
Safety Precautions
Make sure you select a daycare that is taking the utmost precautions to give your little one the safest and most risk-free environment possible. These precautionary measures include:
• Regular sanitization of all surfaces including toys, furniture and toilets
• Daily staff temperature checks
• Mandatory masks for all staff at all times
• Children`s seating arrangement organized as per social distancing norms, with every child remaining 6 foot apart from every other child
• Restricted entry for visitors, including parents and guardians
• Sanitizer dispensers set-up across multiple points within the centre
• Frequent safety trainings for the staff
• Option to pay fee online
Before you enroll your child in a daycare centre, make sure you ask them if they are following these basic steps to keep probable health-risks at bay, and only if the answer is yes to all these steps, say yes to the daycare!
Trust word of mouth
Talk to other parents in your vicinity and get one-on-one feedback on daycares That will give you an honest and reliable review of the place. You can also look at parents` facebook groups online, and post your queries there.
Quality Meal Arrangements
A meal serving daycare will be a preferable choice for working or occupied parents. But also note the quality and options for food being served. For instance, healthy and nutritious food should be served instead of junk food, and good tasting food which the child can enjoy. Also take a kitchen tour to make sure the food is being prepared in hygienic conditions.
Holistic and wide-spectrum of activities
There should be a wide pool of activities that engage kids in different spheres of life- such as fitness, creativity, confidence-building, relationship-building, problem-solving and more. Examples of activities that can be used to ignite these qualities are- sports, clay-modelling, drawing, storytelling, group-games, robotics, dramatics, and many more.
Staff friendliness and approachability
Love and caring for children is the best way to encourage a positive and healthy mindset in them. The staff should be friendly and playful, and there should be a strict policy prohibiting any member of the staff beating or misbehaving with the children.
Grievance Addressal System
In case of any negligence on the daycare`s behalf, there should be a grievance addressal system at the daycare, where complaints can be escalated. There should be a formal system to register the complaints and/or to get compensation in case of an accident.
